When Life Isn’t Fair-Proverbs 3:5-6

(Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6)

Sometimes life does not seem fair. You may be a candidate for a promotion, one that you have been working hard for but, instead, the new guy gets it. How is that right?

You might have been waiting in line for hours to get into a concert and someone cuts in front of you just as you are to give your ticket at the door, and the ticket taker lets them in ahead of you.

Life can throw all kinds of unfair things into your path, and you must make a conscious decision on how you are going to respond.

Joseph, a brother of twelve, suffered at the hand of his jealous brothers. He was mocked and sold into slavery and then taken to Egypt where he served the Pharoah. He could have retaliated but he served and trusted God for the outcome. In the end, when his brothers found themselves in need of food, they traveled to Egypt. Joseph, who oversaw the food distribution, had a choice. He could take revenge on them and deny them provision or serve them with the right attitude. (Genesis chp. 37-47.) His choice was to forgive and provide for his family.
