Love like Jesus-Romans 13:8

Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13: 8 NASB)

Loving others sounds wonderful, but not all people are easy to love. Some are negative, critical, and judgmental. Who wants to love them? Sometimes, I want to run.

Every day, we have a choice to love. We tell ourselves, “I am going to love that grumpy neighbor down the street.” We show kindness to them, but the response is negative. We can either give up or keep showing love in small ways.

For years, a young woman loved her stepmother. Each time she showed love and kindness, she was treated poorly. She was left out of family functions and on holidays received nothing. She was faithful in loving her stepmother regardless of the ill treatment she received.

Over time her stepmother became ill, and the young woman was there when others were not. Finally, the stepmother realized that her stepdaughter was genuine, her love was unconditional.  The stepmother opened her heart to her and was extremely thankful for all the care that she received.

We can all learn from this young woman. Love is not always easy because sometimes we suffer when loving like Jesus.
