(Sing to the Lord a new song; Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Psalm 96:1-2)
Ned loved to sing in the choir and did so every time he was given the opportunity. Then one day, he was in a serious accident that damaged his vocal cords. For many months he could not speak, and it saddened him that he could no longer sing in the choir.
Even though Ned could no longer sing in the choir, he made a choice; he would serve by taking up the offering and handing out the church bulletins. His heart was always singing a new song to the Lord even though no sound came out. His joy was felt by others. His smile was infectious and soon others began to step up and serve in needed areas of the church.
Ned was making a difference, and after many months, his vocal cords began to heal. Soon he was able to speak but his singing voice had not returned. Despite the effects of Ned’s accident, he continued to proclaim the goodness of God.
