The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalms 34:18)
Uncertain of the verdict she would receive, she sat on the bench. Nervous and embarrassed about not getting her paperwork finished, she sighed. The courthouse appeared empty, and she was the only one waiting on the bench.
After a while, others poured in and sat on a bench further down the corridor. She felt alone. Her heart was broken. Her choices had put her in this place.
Jesus was reclining at the table of a Pharisee. A woman came in and walked straight to where Jesus was sitting. She bent down beside his feet and wept. Her tears fell on Jesus’ feet, and she began to dry his feet with her hair. She kissed his feet and anointed them with perfume.
She was a sinner; a woman of the world and others knew it. In his heart, the Pharisee complained, he said, “if this man were a prophet, He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner. (Luke 7:39)
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (I Samuel 16:7)
The woman was broken and crushed inside, and Jesus knew it. She knew she needed a Savior and Jesus meet her need.
Like the woman, you may be broken and feel crushed. Jesus is waiting. Come and allow His healing power to forgive you.
