“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is not law.” (Galatians 5:22-23 NASB)
Who doesn’t struggle with self-control? I know I do. I know it is one of the fruits of the spirit that I need operating in my heart each day.
I am working on changing the way I eat. Recently, my lab work stated my cholesterol was high, so I began watching and counting my bad carbs. It has not been easy. There are foods that I have grown a liking too, like sweets.
There are other areas in my life that I need self-control like watching what I think and speak. I am learning to lean on the Holy Spirit to help me. If I spend time in God’s word each day, it becomes easier to hear the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He gives me the strength to overcome.
Be Encouraged! If you struggle with self-control, you can overcome with God’s help. Take a step and God will guide you.
