When you heard about Christ and were taught in Him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. (Ephesians 4:21-22 NIV)
I am in the process of ridding myself of unwanted clothes, shoes and stuff that is not being used. I have a drawer where everything is crammed into it. I am sure you do not have one of those. There are many things that have not been used in a long while and I wonder why I keep holding onto them.
I can also hold onto selfishness, bitterness, lying, cheating and all these unwanted pieces of baggage that weigh me down spiritually or I can rid myself of them. How do I accomplish this? I cannot do it on my own.
I must seek God and ask for deliverance. Each time I see myself being selfish, I must stop and turn from it. Then I must choose to serve sacrificially. The more I chose to give to others instead of myself, the easier it becomes.
Be Encouraged! If God has shown you something that you need to stop doing, listen, He will help you to get rid of unwanted baggage.

When I feel God working on me, I say He is sanding off my sharp edges. I seem to have a lot of those. I have noticed in the last year that God has put me in situations that challenge me and I ask Him for help to work through them. Baggage is hard to work through, but so satisfying when we can manage it, with God’s help.
And you are not alone in the over-stuffed drawer. I am trying to pare down clothes, too. And just “stuff” period. How we end up with so much is a mystery to me. Hmmm…maybe learning to say, “no” would be helpful. 😉
